DO WE REALLY CARE ABOUT SOULS

Date: Tue Jul 3 05:40:57 2007

It is getting harder and harder to get people to truly care about souls. It seems the church is inward directed, more concerned about itself than about others. This was not the New Testament pattern at all.

The church in the Book of Acts affected everyone around it - the society could not be neutral about the church - they either were drawn to Christ or they became archenemies of the gospel. The same is true all over the world today wherever the gospel is preached under hostile circumstances - and believe me, the circumstances are always hostile when people do not believe in Jesus.

Some have felt this country is immune - hardly. People were jailed in early America for preaching the gospel of Jesus, and though we now have a measure of religious liberty, a new intolerance is now closing in on the church. There are currently bills in both the House and Senate of these United States aimed at silencing those who include homosexuality in their preaching against sin and who warn of the imminent judgment of God. That is in THIS country. We have heard of this elsewhere, but now it is at our doorstep. God's enemies have always been here, but now they are emboldened by the weakness of the church and a desire by so many to embrace the most degrading sins. May it never be, Lord Jesus.

So, is the answer to pass laws favorable to our position? Such laws used to be on the books. I don't think that's an option right now. I believe change will come when the hearts of people will change, so preach the word, share the word, reach out to those around you with the unadulterated word of God. No one is out to kick dust in the eyes of sinners. We are here to simply tell the truth the way Jesus did, and leave no sin off the table, and proclaim the sins of the churched as well as the unchurched. There is no partiality or favoritism in God.

The question I asked in the beginning is "Do We Care"? Do we? Many are content that they have their ticket to the Glory Train, and are pleased they seem to be going First Class. Having lots of money and toys is not going First Class. Going with many souls in tow is going First Class. You see, Jesus talks about treasure in heaven, and that treasure is not silver and gold and goodies. I am amazed how many gospel songs talk about heaven in terms of man's ideas of what true riches are. People are looking forward to streets of gold, big mansions, and all kinds of goodies. Doesn't sound much different from radical Muslim men strappi
