I was asked this question on QUORA:
What benefit, if any, is there to register as an independent voter with no party affiliation?

This was my response:

I am one and am not in pocket of anyone. I am also non-denominational. I still preach at any number of denominational churches as well as non-denominational ones. Surprisingly, the reasons are similar - no political party has a monopoly on truth and is compromised by the nature of the beast - there are people who agree on some things and not others. In churches, committees come up with “position statements” which often do violence to the founding principles of that church. We should stop being simply Republicans and Democrats, but AMERICANS. We should also stop being proud of being Baptists, Assemblies of God, and Presbyterian Church of America, etc. There really is only one set of truth, and that is found in the Bible. All of those groups have beliefs at odds with scripture, and they need to change and be transformed by the renewing of their minds to prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Therefore I am simply an Independent politically and a biblical Christian with no allegiance to man-made denominations.
