MARRIAGE

I came across a wonderful teaching series by the late R.C. Sproul on INTIMACY IN MARRIAGE. We used to lead a MATE group (Marital Advancement Through Enlightenment) that had two teenage couples - both had lasting marriages. The oldest couple was a doctor and his wife and they ended up divorced. He was very egotistical and did not seem to want to learn anything. We have also had PRAYERS FOR LOVE for singles looking to find GOD's best for them, so this is a subject close to our hearts.

Check it out at https://learn.ligonier.org/series/intimate-marriage

Six parts - I have heard two and plan to do one of those exercises with my wife - you list twenty things you want in a spouse and highlight the five that are pretty much non-negotiable. Then you each ask your spouse how you did with the top five on their list on a scale of 1 to 10.  Many will find they score high on 3 or 4 but often there is at least one their spouse does poorly on.  THAT is a critical vulnerability, and if someone comes along who gets a 10 on that, WATCH out.
